Nigeria military battles oil militants

WARRI, Nigeria (AP) — A Nigerian militant group holding three foreign oil workers hostage said its fighters clashed with troops in this West African nation’s oil-rich delta region.

A military spokesman, Maj. Said Hammed, on Thursday confirmed the exchange of fire Wednesday with armed men on the Escravos River, but he gave no further details.
