New Zealand’s Southland Tipped to Become Oil and Gas Hub

Basins where seismic surveys and drilling programs are in progress: The first two onshore wells drilled by L&M were Orepuki, completed in October 2005, and Sharpridge Creek No 1, completed in February this year. Sharpridge Creek No 1 is cased and ready for testing later this month.

Southland is poised to become the hub of future oil and gas development in New Zealand as multi million-dollar exploration of potential reserves heats up in the region.
