Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who is often viewed as one of President Putin
lutherquick’s comments: Maybe this looks like small news, but this idea works in parallel to selling energy in any currency, not just dollars… Like this short article eludes, dominating currencies are a problem… And I will add that a dominant currency which creates hegemony tends to export the effects of peak oil.
The US economy has been insolated from peak oil, relative speaking, and as the dollar sinks, world financial markets reliant on the dollar will become more unstable. The solution is and will be implemented where the dollar becomes marginalized. Eventually countries will use a basket of currencies (less on dollars), and later focus on currencies pegged to energy related indexes.
