Consumers will see some relief, but, “It’s not going to be a hugely significant amount right away,” says Daphne Magnuson, spokeswoman for the American Gas Association, which represents natural gas utilities.
The Energy Department Tuesday said natural gas consumers will still pay a record $1,000 on average for heating this winter, up 34.7% from last year. Although down from the 37.8% gain projected last month, it would still mark the biggest increase in five years.
