MSM scare stories

…Today the MSM’s No. 1 myth is global warming. But many minor myths come to mind. The high cost of college. The 46 million without health insurance. Hunger in America. The obesity crisis. The evils of Wal-Mart.

Those and other media-mongered myths will live forever. But at least one venerable MSM scare story that never dies and never comes true — that the planet is about to run out of oil — lost a little of its credibility last week.

Chevron announced it discovered as much as 15 billion barrels of oil 27,000 feet beneath the friendly waves of the Gulf of Mexico, which could add 50 percent to our proven oil reserves.

Oil industry experts believe there could be many more billions of barrels to be found at those absurd depths, which are only now being aggressively explored in the Gulf and elsewhere thanks to new technologies and the incentives of high-priced oil.
