More vandalism at British Columbia gas wells

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) – Police are investigating vandalism at more energy facilities in northern British Columbia, but said on Thursday they do not believe it is related to three bombing incidents.

Several natural gas well sites near Fort St. John, British Columbia, had valves tampered with or were hit by gunfire in the incidents last week, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a press release.

The well sites owned by Iteration Energy and Canadian Natural Resources Ltd were all located in rural areas, and police said a C$2,000 ($1,666) reward had been posted for information in the case.

“As of this time, there is no evidence to suggest these acts of mischief are related in any way to the recent targeted attacks on EnCana well sites located in the Dawson Creek area,” police said.
