Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., Japan’s largest maker of heavy machinery, said it will spend 10 billion yen ($84 million) to raise solar cell production capacity to tap growing solar-energy demand.
The plant will be built in Nagasaki prefecture, on Japan’s southern island of Kyushu, with production to begin in April 2007, the company said yesterday on its Web site.
