NIGERIA – Militant youths numbering more than three hundred in early hours of Tuesday struck at an oil platform belonging to Peak Oil Company, and abducted four expatriate workers.
The youths were drawn from four coastal communities of Agge, Orobiri, Azambiri and Ogbotu in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
This is the second time within this year that Peak, an indigenous oil and gas prospecting company at the deep-sea but within the territories of the aggrieved communities, will be suffering disruption of its activities.
Some months ago, nine of its expatriates were taken hostage in the same area. They were later released to the state government, who intervened in the matter.
