Crude oil production at the Cantarell oil field in the Gulf of Mexico will drop 6 percent to 1.91 million barrels a day next year, falling further to 1.43 million barrels per day by 2008, state oil monopoly Petroleos Mexicanos, or Pemex, said on Thursday.
Cantarell, Mexico’s largest oil field, produced 2 million barrels per day in the first five days of this month, or 59 percent of the company’s total crude output, Pemex said in a statement.
