Lithuania’s Mazeikiu refinery shut down after power cut

VILNIUS (AFP) – Lithuania’s trouble-prone Mazeikiu Nafta oil complex, the only refinery in the Baltic states, was shut down in an emergency on Monday after electricity supply problems developed, its operating company said.
“The voltage in the electric power supply system dropped, for as yet unidentified reasons,” Mazeikiu Nafta, which belongs to the Polish group PKN Orlen, said in a statement.

“As a result of the interruption to the electricity supply, an emergency shutdown of the refinery was carried out,” the statement added.
