Laos calls on ASEAN to increase use of alternative energy

Laos has called on members of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) to increase the use of alternative power sources, amid soaring global oil prices.

Laos, one of the poorest countries in ASEAN, says it will showcase its hydro-power projects as a cheap alternative to oil at the group’s energy meeting on Thursday.
