Korea, Japan strike shaky deal on Dokdo row

The two Japanese ships assigned to conduct a controversial maritime survey headed back to Tokyo yesterday following a shaky deal reached between South Korea and Japan in their latest territorial feud.

The ocean encompassing the islets serves as a rich fishing ground with large deposits of gas hydrates that could be used as liquid natural gas.
