Kim’s missiles send fuel prices rocketing

Sydney should brace itself for near-record petrol prices next week, with an oil industry executive warning unleaded fuel could hit 149 cents a litre.

Tensions over North Korea’s missile tests would drive up the price of petrol, general manager of oil industry consultants FUELtrac Geoff Trotter said.

Today’s highest unleaded petrol price in Sydney was 145.9 cents a litre, and the lowest 129.9, Mr Trotter said.

But a jump in Singapore petrol prices, which lead the Australian market, could push unleaded fuel to 149 cents a litre in Sydney next week, he said.
