Japan and Iran are trying to further expand the already strong bilateral ties that have existed between the two nations for the past 80 years.
Iran ranks third in providing oil to Japan, with only Saudi Arabia and the UAE supplying more of Japan’s oil.
Japan’s Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense of its House of Councilors Kazuya Shimba met with Iranian Foreign Ministry Director General Nematollah Izadi in Japan on Tuesday. Izadi was reportedly in Japan to participate in a consulting session of the Iran-Japan political committee.
