Warri — Itsekiri youths in Delta State have given oil companies operating in their domain a 21-day ultimatum to stop operations in the area, explaining that because of the alleged negligence of the area by the Federal Government irrespective of the oil being exploited in the area, they can no longer guarantee the safety of oil workers in the area.
The youths under the aegis of Iwere Development Association (IDA) who also broke their silence on the recent attack on some Ijaw communities by the military after an exhaustive meeting yesterday in Warri, described as shameful the alleged under-development of the area after several decades of oil exploitation and threatened to distrupt oil exploitation in the Niger Delta after the expiration of the ultimatum.
