Alexander Samoylenko, who led a branch of Russia’s largest independent gas producer Itera, was shot and killed as he left his office in the central Russian city of Samara, police said.
Samoylenko was the director of Itera’s Samara operations. He and a colleague were gunned down by automatic weapons as they left the office at around 8 p.m. local time, a police spokesman said.
In addition to heading Itera-Samara, Samoylenko was the general director of AvtoVAZenergo, a division of auto-maker AvtoVAZ, ITAR-TASS said.
“Samoylenko died on the way to the hospital,” where his wounded colleague was also taken, the Interfax news agency quoted the spokesman as saying.
