Italy’s Eni makes new gas discovery in U.S. waters in the Gulf of Mexico

Italian oil and gas giant Eni SpA said Monday it has made a new gas discovery in U.S. waters in the Gulf of Mexico and is studying the possibility of starting to produce gas in the area.

Eni said in a statement that the latest find occurred at the Longhorn North exploration well, 195 kilometers (121 miles) southeast of New Orleans. The company is “evaluating possible development alternatives” aiming for an early production startup, it said.
