Iran President-elect Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was noncommittal when asked Sunday whether he would keep or replace incumbent Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh.
Although he didn’t give a definite answer, he said during a press conference: “Those enjoying the desired qualification will certainly be retained in my government”.
Ahmadinejad said in choosing members of his cabinet that he would “concentrate on qualifications and not just on factional affiliation”.
Iran is the second largest oil producer within the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries – after Saudi Arabia – with oil output capacity around 4 million barrels a day.
