The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries will maintain its current crude oil production ceiling, or may even increase it, when the group meets next month, Indonesia’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said Sunday.
There is no need for OPEC members to cut their output as demand for oil is expected to increase in the U.S. over the next few months, Purnomo told reporters on the sidelines at the SEAAOC regional oil conference in Darwin.
“We would expect that OPEC will not cut the production,” Purnomo said.
“At least, we hope that OPEC would maintain the production, or even increase the production,” he said.
