India to tap oil fields in Venezuela

India is keen on taking stake in oil and gas fields in Venezuela and is exploring the possibility of importing crude oil from the Latin American country, Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar said on Friday.
While Venezuela withdrew its earlier offer of six exploration blocks, Aiyar and visiting Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Friday discussed Indian public sector firms taking 49 per cent stake in onshore discovered field San Cristobal in eastern Venezuela and two gas fields on the offshore.
