India to tap Dutch friendship for nuclear energy

As part of an intensified campaign in its quest for civilian nuclear energy, India will tap the Netherlands when Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende comes here on a three-day visit starting Jan 18.

The visit is an important one for India’s campaign to influence the powerful Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), of which the Netherlands is a member, to relax its norms relating to civil nuclear trade in its favour, diplomatic sources told IANS.
