India has finally gained entry into the exclusive nuclear club, the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor or ITER. The process was set into motion in July this year following the nuclear cooperation agreement signed by India and the United States. Under this deal, the US had promised to support India’s membership of the multi-billion dollar nuclear fusion energy experiment. Soon, the European Union announced its support and last week, the 12th ITER negotiation meeting formally okayed India’s entry into the club. Besides, the US and EU, other members of ITER are Russia, Japan, South Korea and China.
