As with all storms, Hurricane Katrina will pass, but its long-term impact will linger and possibly set a new precedent for energy prices, especially as the market preps for the winter season, analysts said.
“This single storm could be the catalyst pushing crude oil into a more sustained period over $70,” said Agebli Ameko, a managing partner at First Enercast Financial.
