There I was Tuesday morning, credit card in hand, all ready to buy my season pass to snowboard in Hell: President George W. Bush and I actually agreed on something.
But by Tuesday afternoon, the president I’d least like to have a beer with had begun to back off his Monday skepticism about the value of giving hard-workin’ Amurrkins a “holiday” from federal gasoline taxes.
Monday, Crawford, Texas’ best-known brush clearer sensibly noted that eliminating the 18.4-cents-per-gallon gas tax for consumers this summer, as proposed by presumptive GOP presidential nominee John McCain, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and pandering members of Congress, was a gimmick that would do nada to address the long-term inevitability of rising gas prices.
Barack Obama, the Democrat now under attack because of what his ex-pastor thinks and says (?), also agreed with the president on Monday.
