High Oil Prices Masking Drop in Slope Production

High oil prices have sent state revenues soaring, and that’s good news for the state budget. The bad news, however, is that oil production from North Slope oil fields is declining faster than expected.

In other words, the good times for the state budget may not last, particularly if oil prices take a dip, something most forecasters think will eventually happen.
