PHILIPPINES – Rising fuel prices may be pushing more and more commuters to rely on the mass transport system to get to work instead of driving their own cars, according to the latest data from the Metro Rail Transit Corp.
The trend was especially evident on the MRT Line-3
During the first quarter of the year, a total of 34.2 million commuters rode on the MRT-3, data from the company showed. The figure represented an 11.2 percent increase in ridership compared to 30.2 million commuters during the same period in 2005.
