There is no equivalent term for the dumbing down of individual and collective memory, transforming and making it Tunnel Memory, but that is certainly what we have today in the disaggregating and anomic ‘late consumer societies.’ (…) The consumer faithful of course know this is to ensure oil supplies for their cars, plastic toys, air conditioners, deodorants and ‘miracle’ drugs, and make little or no protest — after all there will be a football match or Elton John concert immediately following the great news they have consumed.
