GMP Introduces ‘Green Rate’

Customers of Green Mountain Power Corp. now have the choice of buying all or part of their electricity from renewable resources…

Andrew Perchlik, executive director of Renewable Energy Vermont, said the program will not only help support renewable energy in Vermont and New England but also will insulate customers against rate shock in case of an energy crisis.

“People that are particularly concerned about peak oil or peak natural gas with the prices going way up would be interested in this program because they can lock in the price, the energy portion of their rate, for five years,” he said.
