With its much-hyped plug-in hybrid car still years away, General Motors Corp. already is planning a long-range, hydrogen-fueled sequel to the vehicle known as Volt.
At the Shanghai Auto Show today, the automaker will announce plans to product a hydrogen-fueled version of the Chevrolet Volt concept vehicle. Like the original Volt, it would be powered by a lithium ion battery. But the second version aims to mate that battery with hydrogen fuel cells rather than a small gasoline engine.
