Gas thievery hits service stations

Gasoline thefts from local service stations have become quite a problem for gas station managers around Morgan County.

Current costs could perhaps be a big reason people decide to fill up and run.

Fort Morgan Police Chief Keith Kuretich said while gasoline driveoffs are sporadic, suspects are difficult to catch without some type of useful lead.

“Whether we catch someone or not, it depends on the information available to us,” Kuretich said. “The sooner an officer can be dispatched to the (crime) scene, the more likely the suspect will be apprehended.”
