A rising tide may lift all boats, but rising gasoline prices sink all budgets.
From fishing boat owners, to their crews, to Councils on Aging, to Meals on Wheels, to car dealers, the steady click upwards of the price of gasoline spares no one.
“By this point in the year we expected to spend 67 percent of budget for oil and gasoline,” said Phil Beard, elderly nutrition program director for Coastline Elderly Services Inc. of New Bedford. “We have spent 85 percent. We are 18 percent over budget.”
