Gas Goes Up Six Cents

Up, up and away!

You’d think the New Years Resolution for oil companies was to make more cash. After starting off 2009 with gas prices at their lowest in five years, local prices are taking another jump just a week after a nine cent increase.

74.9 cents per litre was the going rate at the start of the month, but it didn’t last. About a week ago it jumped to 83.9 cents. Then, Friday afternoon local prices started moving again, just a mere 24 hours after prices spiked in Regina. The new going rate for gas in Moose Jaw is 89.9 cents per litre, a six cent increase. Although, some stations are posting a price of 88.9 and if you’re lucky you’ll still find some at 83.9.

Residents in Melville have it best. That’s the cheapest in the province at 69.9 cents per litre. Gas experts predict a gradual increase well above the dollar per litre mark over the next few months.

When prices change give us a call at 693-NEWS and we’ll let everyone else know.
