Fuel prices guzzling district budgets

…”Looking at the preliminary costs road repairs are going to be 30 percent higher than last summer,” said Washoe County Road Division Incline Station Supervisor Dick Minto. “We’re suffering just like everyone else.

“The service level has to remain the same, we still have to repair and plow the roads, it just costs more.”

Long-time Incline contractor Jim Costalupes said gas prices are affecting every aspect of his business.

“It’s really, really expensive,” he said. “Fuel prices effect lumber, steel, concrete and ultimately the overall cost of construction. We’re lucky we live in a small town and don’t have to drive all over the place, but this summer isn’t going to be easy.”
