It all sounds so Yankee Doodle Dandy wonderful – those ads showing golden corn kernels magically helping make America energy self-sufficient by using corn-created E85 ethanol fuel.
But is there a downside for consumers? Why are the automakers suddenly pushing flexible-fuel vehicles, which have been around for years?
Before you run out to buy a “flexible-fuel vehicle” so you can use E85 and save America from foreigners who don’t like us, you should know you will be taking a big hit on fuel economy.
