Fuel costs may force fare hikes

NEW ZEALAND – Rising fuel prices have hit tourism operators hard, with many saying they will not be able to continue wearing the hikes for long.

While some operators had already set fares for the season, others were in the midst of annual rate reviews.

Kawarau Jet managing director Andy Brinsley said the company’s rates had been set until October and would not be rising before then.
