The Netherlands should build more nuclear Power plants. The reactors have become safer and more waste is being recycled. “Looking from a technical point, we are ready for it.” This is said by Ruud Lubbers, former prime minister of the Netherlands, in an interview with newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.
At present, Lubbers is chairman of Energie Centrum Nederland, an organisation that advises the Dutch Government, in al sorts of energy related issues. “there is no principal reason why Holland should not build more nuclear reactors”, according to Lubbers.
According to him, at present, 35% of all electricity is nuclear. “In Holland, that figure is only 3%, so we are running low here. It is reasonable that we should increase that number.”
