Fighting between Shias on eve of crucial Iraq vote

Shia groups have been fighting each other in southern Iraq on the eve of attempts to secure an historic draft constitution.


Supporters of Moqtada al-Sadr’s Mehdi Army – which is opposed to the US-backed charter – were involved in clashes with rival groups in the southern city of Amara, near Basra.
