The Feeding Sydney Conference 2009 was held at the University of Western Sydney, Hawkesbury campus. The Conference focused on the issues associated with feeding a growing world population at a time when available agricultural land and water supplies are declining and there is increasing pressure regarding sustainability of farming systems.
Sydney and its food supply was used as an example of the issues and challenges facing major population hubs. Alternative food supply options were explored together with issues of food security. A growers and suppliers panel discussion provided a real world insight into the issues associated with the supply side of the equation.
