EU interested in supply of natural Iranian gas

Brussels – The European Union’s top energy official said Tuesday that he will be glad if Iranian natural gas would flow to the energy-hungry Europe.

“Definitely Iran has huge gas reserves and I am definitely glad if Iranian gas will come to serve the European market as well,” EU energy commissioner Andris Piebalgs told a press conference in Brussels in reply to IRNA’s question on EU-Iran energy cooperation.
“But to make it happen there should be investments made and liquefied natural gas terminal should be developed. Only in this case there can be real supply of Iranian gas to the market,” he added.

There is great concern in the EU over gas supply following the recent gas price crisis between Russia and Ukraine.
