Ethylene, a material used in the production of plastics, could become useful in the development of new hydrogen storage solutions for fuel cell technology applications, researchers have claimed.
This allows for about 14 per cent of the weight of the material to be made up of hydrogen molecules, the researchers claim. This beats the Department of Energy’s current target of 6.5 per cent for practical hydrogen storage in solid state.
