A BRISBANE-based company has snapped up a place in the lucrative US ethanol market by buying 60 per cent of the largest farmer-owned producer.
Global Ethanol is the first Australian company to make a significant acquisition in the US producer market through the proposed acquisition of the majority of Iowa-based Midwest Grain Processors (MPG).
Little is known about Global Ethanol. Director Timothy McMahon yesterday referred questions to fellow director Trevor Bourne, who is in the US.
Its major shareholders are companies associated with Mr Bourne.
