Shares of ethanol-producing and hydrogen fuel-cell companies rose sharply Tuesday as higher oil prices provided the economic stimulus for investment in alternative-energy sources.
Fuel cell maker Ballard Power Systems Inc. (BLDP) was among the largest percentage gainers, climbing 24% to $7.95. Ballard also was benefiting from an upgrade from Citigroup, which raised its rating to hold from sell, noting that the shares had plummeted to the $6 level from $13 over the past few weeks.
