..Nobody in Europe or the United States has found the final answer to long-term nuclear waste, a substance with a dangerous shelf life that is measured in thousands of years, which means that nobody knows when, if ever, it will become benign.
..Germany, for example, has announced that all of its 19 power stations will be closed by 2026 because of the fear of waste. Claude Mandil, France’s general director for energy and raw materials, says he doesn’t see how the French nuclear program can continue if the waste problem isn’t solved.
