India, Brazil and South Africa must strengthen cooperation in the energy sector under the banner of IBSA Trilateral Alliance to cash in on complementarities and promote trade, according to the National Consultation on ”South-South Economic Cooperation”.
..In the energy sector, it was felt that India, South Africa and Brazil can solve 10 to 15 per cent of their energy shortage through use of ethanol fuel (bio-fuel). This seems practical under the IBSA Trilateral Alliance because India and Brazil are two large producers of sugar (source for ethanol) and 50 per cent of sugar in Brazil is utilised for ethanol production.
Another area of cooperation among these three countries under the energy sector is the pebble bed nuclear technology used in South Africa…
