Ecuador To Refine Petroleum In Venezuela

05/23 (LWN) The South American nation of Ecuador plans to begin refining its petroleum in state-run Venezuelan refineries within forty-five days, and expects to reduce refining costs by three-hundred million dollars.

The official Chinese People’s Daily newspaper reported on Monday that Ecuador’s Energy Minister announced this intention the previous day after returning from a visit to the Venezuelan capitol. The newspaper also indicated that Ecuador had recently put an end to its contract with an American oil company and brought fields it was operating under government control.
