Dutch May Allow Gazprom Some Control Over Supply

Gazprom is interested in entering the Dutch energy market, the Dutch government said Monday.

The Netherlands, itself a significant gas producer, would consider allowing Gazprom access to its energy market and was not opposed in principle to such a move, said a spokesman for Dutch Economy Minister Laurens-Jan Brinkhorst.

But Brinkhorst did not specifically say whether Gazprom wanted to acquire Dutch electricity firms, as reported by Dutch media, the spokesman added.
