Alternative energy exports of wind turbines and district heating can provide a welcome relief for the backside of China’s economic miracle
Danish engineering companies have begun courting China with their expertise in environmental-friendly energy solutions, business daily Idag reported Tuesday.
China’s double-digit economic growth in recent years has also released dangerous amounts of pollution. While the country’s enormous coal reserves could power factories and heat homes, the effects on air quality would be significant, leading Chinese leaders to prioritise developing alternative energy solutions.
Danish engineering companies stand at the front of the queue when China begins investing some DKK 15 billion (EUR 2 billion) in alternative energy sources over the next five years, according to Mads Peter Gede, head of the international division for the Danish Association of Consulting Engineers.
‘We’ve just been in China with the ministers of the environment and foreign affairs. The trip has only confirmed the enormous potential and China’s great interest for Danish know-how,’ said Gede.
