Crude oil production during April 2006 fell by 1.9 per cent at 2.749 million metric tonnes (MMT) against 2.802 MMT for the same month last year.
The production also fell short of the planned target of 2.789 MMT for the month by 1.4 per cent, according to figures released by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Wednesday.
Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) fell short of its target of 2.130 MMT by 1.6 per cent. It suffered major production losses in its Assam, Tamil Nadu and Mumbai oil fields.
