Victims of the Buncefield fuel depot explosion have launched legal action at the High Court in a bid to gain compensation from the oil industry.
The group wants the court to decide who was liable for the blast, which devastated parts of Hemel Hempstead.
“Our experience is that following a disaster of this nature the industry would normally get together and present a united front to the public and say ‘look we will meet these claims’, even if they do fight tooth and nail over who is liable behind the scenes.
“But in this case, this hasn’t happened,” he said.
