COPAD DAY OF PROTEST?

Hello friends in peak oil,
Let’s arrange an international day of protest we will call COPAD DAY!

The aim would be for one Saturday in June — you’re summer! (Us Australians don’t freeze to death in winter.) This would give us enough time to arrange the logistics and recruit the University students to load the protests.

The goal would be to hand out the COPAD statement. My wife is a graphic designer, and we could create an attractively designed version of the COPAD statement for this day, to be printed in A4 & US letter. (Have to see how much of the text fits on the A4 page, but will do our best.)
COPAD DAY – WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE.

One Saturday in June protesters converge at central rally points in each major city around the globe. One city might only have a handful of protesters, another might have hundreds or even thousands!

(Canberra oil awareness group has 60 students EAGER for someone to arrange SOMETHING on the international stage.)

We would all dress in black from head to toe — symbolizing both oil and the seriousness of our message.

I propose that we stand in central locations, with placards, banners, and thousands of pre-printed brochures, and quietly, solemnly hand out the COPAD statement. I feel that we need our own “flavour”. The quieter we are, the more surreal it will be and more impact we will have. No loud chanting. No violence. No noise. Just silence. People dressed in black, standing under banners, and handing out the COPAD statement in every capital city worldwide. This will convey conviction, seriousness, and purpose.
